If you came here for something nice to read, check out my post about Hitchhiking as a metaphor to self-development.
But……Since it is a travel blog that was created first and foremost to do some travelling, here are my broad ideas for the rest of this summer. Disclosure: there have been some drinking evenings better planned than this trip.
Mostly I’m looking for:
- Some rides
- Hiking partners
- Couches to surf
- Places to camp
- Suggestions about where to stop and where to travel
Starting from the 4th, 5th or 6th of august (depends how much time I need to recover after a festival) I will start on a journey of a couple of days which will look approximately like this:
Starting in Berlin I will try to hitchhike all the way through Denmark (If I won´t be able to hitchhike a ferry in Rostock by chance), throughout the south of Sweden towards the area north of the lake Vänern. The goal is visiting a friend, who has a summer house over there.
On the way, there might be a stop in southern Sweden, but your suggestions for northern Germany and Denmark are welcome.
Tent and Breakfast
Though Danish (and German) police were nice to me once, I do not intend to rely on their help as a ride and especially not as my host.
If you will be around Hamburg, Kiel, Flensburg or Kolding, Odense and Copenhagen around 5-6.8., feel free to drop me a line. Mostly I´m looking for places to Couchsurf or to camp during the trip there and back. The plan is to go back to berlin around 20.8, so if you have some tips for the way back are welcome as well.

Around the 6-7.8. I´d be glad to meet anyone in the triangle between Malmö, Gothenburg and Jönköping.
Once reaching my friends summer house, the plan is short relaxation and then going to a 2-3 days hike. I´m willing to go further t find a good hiking trail. My sole criteria for a good hiking trail is a place with som views, hence it must not be too flat. So I´m looking for a such a trail as well a hiking partner/s, one of which I can even “host” in my tent.
Open-ended Adventure
Anything after the 10 or 12th of August is an unplanned black box for me. Going to the north of Sweden, or even Norway is still on the table.
At this point, I also wonder if there is an app, which, much like Couchsurfing lets you be even more extremely spontaneous in meeting travellers and organize a hike or any other activity. Any feedback in that regard is also warmly welcome.
As you can see, this is one of the least planned adventures people attempt these days. I´m looking forward to updating them further. As Douglas Adams advised, I will always know where my towel is (deep in the bottom of my backpack, right under the Cooking kit).
See you on the road,
